NewPipe does not use the Google framework libraries or the YouTube API. Instead, it gets data from the YouTube site and cleans it up. This is done to reduce the amount of data transmitted by Google. This technology is called NewPipe-Extractor and is a separate project.

NewPipe cannot be published in the Google Play store, as it gets access to YouTube without using the API or displaying ads, which is contrary to Google's terms of service.
